Memnon – soundportraits of Ibsen characters

Memnon – Ruth Wilhelmine Meyer and Helge Lien

Photo: Ina Strøm

The Ibsen museum in Oslo asked the vocal performer Ruth Wilhelmine Meyer and the jazzpianist Helge Lien to do a Ibsen based concert, and they answered the question, by making non verbal sound portraits of some of the most important of Henrik Ibsens figures.

The project  was recorded in 2012 and had international release in 2013. They have been touring in Norway, Sweden, Germany and India.

Ibsen grandios in Klänge gefaßt

The album was titled CD of the year 2013 in the German magazine, Musenblätter:

Dieses perfekte Konzept-Album ist die beste, spannendste neue Musikproduktion, die mir 2013 zu Ohren gekommen ist. Sie ist mehr als unsere Auszeichnung, den „Musenkuß“ wert – es ist unsere Schallplatte des Jahres. Chapeau! /… /

/… / This perfect concept album is the best, most exciting new music production, that reached my ear in 2013. It is worth more than our honor, the “Musenkuß” – it is our record of the year. Chapeau! /… /
