AKKU

AKKU5 came in november 2011. Last time AKKU released an album the press wrote:

…Akku is something so unique, this creative trio compels the audience to let their hearts take an unexpected leap in the air. This group presents a musical “happening” that they are perhaps alone in…

AKKU started as a Norwegian trio, which has existed since 1996, with the members Ruth Wilhelmine Meyer and Elfi Sverdrup as vocalists, and Lars Andreas Haug as a tuba player.

In 2010 the trio became a quintet as the Norwegian percussionist Knut Aalefjær and the polish saxophonist Grzech Piotrowski joined the group and developed the musical language of AKKU. The base of their music is the sounds of the northern polar part of the world, like the Inuit female throat-singing tradition, Norwegian folk songs, and different Siberian traditions with overtone singing among others. The musicians have big variations in their musical background, making AKKU a conglomerate of musical expressive colours. AKKU has had concerts in all kinds of festivals: jazz-, folk-, contemporary-, blues- and rock festivals in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Poland.

They even had concert series for animals in the zoo of Kristiansand in Norway, an experience that expanded their view of musical communication and sound colours
